A Lawyer Asked

Developing the Next Generation of Rainmakers A Lawyer Asked A lawyer I coach recently asked: I have a quick question for you: do you have any blog posts or other guidance on a suggested method for reaching out to people who are contacts of colleagues, but not very close (the kind they met at a conference once), to try to get a meeting or other direct exposure to them? Great question. Many have touched on that subject in books, articles, blogs. First step is to do research on the person and or his/her company. Look them up and see if they have any articles presentations etc on line. Read what they have written or presented and come up with a question you can ask them. I think the best way to follow up is to have some kind of event you can invite them to, especially if it is an interest you share. Invite him or her to lunch with statement “I want to pick your brain.” One book you might consider is Book Yourself Solid by Michael Port. Here is an article. Here is a link to the workbook for the book Here also is a good summary of Keith Ferrazzi’s book Never Eat Alone. More good reading   Finally Jeffrey Gitomer wrote a book The Sales Bible. You can get it on Amazon but here is a pdf on Slideshare. Look at slide 56 which confirms my idea about inviting the person to something. I practiced law for 37 years developing a national construction law practice representing some of the top highway and transportation construction contractors in the US.

Networks Are Like Bridges

Systems Are Like Bridges Today is the 100th commemoration of the Queensboro Bridge (likewise called the 59th Street Bridge) that associates the wards of Queens and Manhattan. I have an exceptional connection to this extension on the grounds that for me it speaks to the connection between my past, present, and future. As a child experiencing childhood in Queens, I recall the first occasion when I was permitted to make a trip by transport to Manhattan over that extension and that it was so supernatural to leave the more rural feel of Queens and rapidly be moved into the rushing about that is Manhattan. What's more, I went over that connect again when I moved from Queens to my first loft in Manhattan, amped up for abandoning my youth and making my mark. Nowadays I invest a great deal of energy returning over the scaffold to visit my folks and companions who despite everything live in Queens. I regularly walk or run over the extension and I every now and again consider the scaffold an extraordinary connector as I watch the vehicles, transports, and metro vehicles pro by. It probably won't be the most excellent extension on the planet, however to me it is stupendous, regardless of the rust, dirt, and what appears unlimited fixes and postponements. Systems work along these lines. A decent vocation the board methodology requires a complete glance at all your connectorsthose that interface you to your past, current connections, and the connections you ought to work to enable your profession to develop and succeed. Like the extension, only one out of every odd relationship is great, you may encounter deferrals, and you shouldnt anticipate everything from all individuals. Take a gander at each relationship for its latent capacity and be excusing of what your contacts can and can't accomplish for you. Extensions interface individuals and places and make numerous things conceivable. Networks do as well. Support yours, traverse it often, and appreciate the view!

Recommendations, References and Referrals

Recommendations, References and Referrals Embrace these three Rs (recommendations, references, and referrals) in your career management. Doing so will bring high value and ROI for advancing your career. Recommendations An important ingredient in your LinkedIn profile is to have recommendations. Never leave this section blank. The perfect number of recommendations isnt subjective; it should consist of five recommendations per job title, not per company. Yes, that sounds a bit daunting. And it can be challenging to meet this target as generally, it is not high on peoples agendas to recommend others in writing, especially on the internet. Who should these five recommendations be? Number one, your boss or your bosss boss, someone that you reported to. If you are a CEO, attempt to secure a recommendation from the Chair of the Board. Number two, a peer, someone lateral to you. Ask a person you collaborated with at the same level who gained an understanding of your work ethics, practices, processes and ability to drive success. Number three, an employee. Some employees may not wish to share their opinion of you. Ha! Ha! But others might have adored you and now miss you after your departure. Ask them for a recommendation. Number four, a vendor/supplier. Seek out someone external to you or your company as a business partner and ensure that you had considerable interaction with them so that they can provide a detailed synopsis. Number five, a client or customer. Again, some customers or clients might not want to recommend you. Chuckles! But, hopefully, some do. You can ask them to articulate how you helped them with their issues or requests. Finally, if you have attended schooling, ask a classmate with whom you have been directly involved in projects or classwork to provide a recommendation. References References Available Upon Request were eliminated from a resume at least 15 years ago. It is automatically assumed that you will attend the interview or at least have a list of references readily available for distribution that a future employer interested in engaging you can call. Again, you should attempt to have five references who have interacted with you most recently, not someone from five, ten or fifteen years ago. They should include a boss or a leader, a peer (someone lateral to you), an employee, a vendor, and a client. Ensure that they are briefed that you are entering a job search and ask them to be a reference. Dont surprise them as it can inhibit the conversation with the potential employer. Keep your references up-to-date with your job search and tell them if there is an impending request for them to speak about you. On the reference list highlight their name, company, position and title, relationship to you, contact phone number and email. A word of advice, have someone else check these references out before you go to market to ensure they are providing a positive impression of you. Referrals Today, when advertised jobs are very slim, a referral can bring huge value to you as you conduct a job search. Executive recruiters are more inclined to open up conversation with you if you are introduced as a referral. What does an introduction to a career decision maker at a company where you would like to work do for you? It brings you a depth and breadth of value. Referrals are like gold. Treat them with respect because they have placed trust in you. CIO Resumes Mining IT Projects for Strategic Benefit

CIO Resumes Mining IT Projects for Strategic Benefit Are you a rising star in the IT world eager for a shot at the CIO role? Ascending from IT Director or VP takes more than just showing how you’ve leveraged the technology itself: you’ll need to first put yourself in the C-suite on paper. As described by  my recent article in ComputerWorld, most would-be technology executives stumble when it comes to resume writing at the CIO level. Transitioning your value proposition to reflect  officer-ready qualifications requires a significant transition from the traditional, skills-based resume that helped capture your last job in IT. Here, Ive included  simple steps that can transform your IT resume from mundane, project-by-project details to a leadership brand message designed to land  a  CIO role. First, I recommend making a list of the projects you’ve led, then answer the following questions about each one:   What made these initiatives attractive to stakeholders (in terms of ROI)? Were the benefits external or internal to the company (with impact to either the company’s customers or business users)? How did the company leverage the new technologies from a PR standpoint? And last of all, what competitive edge was gained from the project? Now, take these project details and add specific budget or cost figures to demonstrate scope, as shown by  these examples: “Contributed to $4M total savings by working with regional CEO to incorporate SaaS and cloud technologies…” Delivered automation solutions that increased business productivity 43%â€"even with $300K reduction in operating costs…” As you can see by these sample phrases  from actual CIO resumes, focusing on the bottom line can help decision-makers review your credentials in a more strategic light. In a future column, Ill  cover  CIO resume writing techniques that showcase (and capitalize on) your executive relationships.

You get out of it what you put in Life as a graduate Prison Officer - Debut

You receive in return what you put in Life as an alumni Prison Officer - Debut The conventional 9-5 alumni work isn't for everybody. You may be looking for administration, for a test, or to affect society all in all. Provided that this is true, the Leadership Development Program at Unlocked Grads might be the launch to your profession you're searching for. We're not going to gloss over it: taking a shot at the cutting edge in a jail is intense. Be that as it may, it's perhaps one of the most compensating employments out there, as you get the chance to have a prompt effect on the lives of detainees, while handling probably the greatest test (did you realize that we go through £18 billion consistently on reoffending in this nation?!) To get to the core of the issue, we addressed three current alumni on the Unlocked program to find out additional. Busting legends Some may state life as a jail official essentially includes opening, shutting (and bolting!) entryways, yet the job is significantly more nuanced than that. Jail Officers have a tremendous impact in the restoration procedure, which means wearing various caps. As Guneet, who has been working at HMP Wormwood Scrubs clarifies: It's really an extremely mind boggling job and you're accomplishing crafted by such a significant number of various callings instructor, social laborer, first aider, and mediator. Deren, who has gone through about a year on the arrivals at HMP Pentonville, explains: I think individuals by and large speculate that we're power ravenous and simply need to have [that] over individuals. It's really the direct inverse. Whilst you should gain proficiency with a great deal rapidly concerning authority aptitudes and holding fast in troublesome circumstances, its at last about understanding fundamental human feelings and having the option to react quick. Jonny includes: It tends to be extremely hard to get detainees to do things that they would prefer not to do, however it feels so incredible when you at last begin to break through to them and fabricate a decent compatibility. Some may likewise hear the word 'jail' and quickly need to remain clear. Be that as it may, there's significantly more to these organizations than what you see on TV. Jonny, who is an official at outside national jail HMP Huntercombe, vouches for this direct: the discernment they're very rough and unpleasant places yet actually, the folks you're working with have quite recently committed a couple of errors, and are simply people. Nature is additionally not in every case high weight. There are chances to bond with the two detainees and staff, and even an opportunity for personal time. This was perhaps the greatest amazement for Deren when she began: You anticipate that it should be tense continually. As a matter of fact, more often than not (except if there's an episode) you're simply visiting endlessly with individuals. Life as a Prison Officer Learning better approaches to impart on an additionally understanding level is one of the characteristics that you create as a Prison Officer; as Deren clarifies: It's having those social abilities and having the option to manufacture a compatibility with individuals who you would likely never go over all in all life. Building great, constructive working connections and picking up trust with individuals who don't really have trust in the jail administration, yet in addition trust in individuals all the more for the most part. This trust would then be able to be applied legitimately in the event that somebody is happy to go that additional mile; Jonny uncovered his experience on the enlistment unit, moving individuals from that unit into everyone of the remainder of the prison. He stated: I was moving a person into a wing into a cell with somebody who didn't communicate in a similar language and it was arriving at where he was getting in a difficult situation with the wing staff so I went onto the wing, found another person who I knew would have the option to convince him and had the option to convince him to remain on the wing. It's tied in with using the things that were at that point before me and considering some fresh possibilities. Guneet additionally helped one detainee who was examining a business course. Beforehand a difficulty producer, he frequently would not return to his cell and for the most part made life very troublesome. Be that as it may, when Guneet scholarly of his pioneering aspirations, she considered it to be a chance to help: Since I knew about consultancy I gave him some foundation on budget reports and organizations and how they run. Inevitably we got to talking and I guaranteed he had explicit books I'd gained from myself and helped him with a strategy and his conduct just totally changed. Obviously, not all encounters are generally so certain, yet regardless of how extreme the conditions are, there's continually something to learn. Regardless of whether you're managing inward jail groups or become familiar with the social pecking orders in a correctional facility, Jonny notes: Being a jail official is a truly testing and unusual employment. You must form associations with individuals who regularly have a divider up. But on the other hand it's tied in with making sense of the connections and orders between detainees so you can envision when there may be inconvenience on the wing. Open doors for graduates So what sort of characteristics would it be a good idea for you to have in case you're thinking about a job and need to stand apart at Unlocked? All things considered, Guneet, Deren and Jonny all referenced correspondence, passionate insight and consistency as being totally fundamental in turning into a jail official. Guneet additionally includes that a ton of the abilities rise above based on what I'm doing inside the jail to outside the jail too. These incorporate de-raising a circumstance or focusing on detail, both transferable resources you can use in any circumstance. The association is searching for new faces who can show these qualities, just as a craving to build up their authority abilities. They're searching for individuals of every single instructive foundation. In case you're willing to have a go at something else and are set up to place in the unite, at that point you could be an ideal fit for the program. For instance, Jonny joined in the wake of finishing his Masters in Biomedical Science. When he understood that the lab wasn't for him, he chose to make a profession change and the enthusiasm from the staff persuaded him to apply: It's not only a 9-5 it's a way of life and you inundate yourself completely in it. What you put in you will receive in return. Deren underpins this case, expressing how future alumni must be put resources into the crucial the job, just as the abilities you'll learn in the organization: Carry out the responsibility since you need to carry out the responsibility, not due to the degree, the pay and so forth. While a job as a Prison Officer may not be the primary thing that rings a bell with regards to graduate employments, the encounters you increase can be brought across and exhibited in any future expert undertakings; from managing possibly troublesome associates to speaking with individuals on new levels, to learning better approaches to adapt to attempting circumstances. Be that as it may, most importantly, you'll be making a complete, positive effect on people and society all the more extensively something not all alumni can guarantee.

Can We Do More to Help New Grads Find Work

Would we be able to Do More to Help New Grads Find Work Would we be able to Do More to Help New Grads Find Work We can somewhat censure the economy for this, however we can likewise credit some of it to the slip-ups that youthful occupation searchers make. Some ongoing graduates don't matter to enough employments: 44 percent of them just apply to five occupations one after another. Numerous graduates likewise neglect to exploit the Web: just 26 percent of them attempt to secure positions through web based life destinations. (Details via Forbes.) In any case, paying little mind to where we lay the fault, we need an answer. My inquiry is: can we businesses, enrollment specialists, HR experts, and the various players in the employing device accomplish more to enable new alumni to look for some kind of employment? The Association of American Colleges Universities (AACU) assumes so and I concur. How Employers Fail Recent Grads In the Spring of 2013, Debra Humphreys, VP of the workplace of correspondences, approach, and open commitment at AACU, offered a strong expression: Bosses may need to change their enlisting and employing rehearses so as to find ability any place it tends to be found in schools and colleges. While AACU regards the assessments of the business and philanthropic pioneers who have partaken in our studies, we don't assume that their enrolling and recruiting rehearses are completely lined up with what is required for the drawn out accomplishment of either their representatives or their organizations or associations. For instance of bosses poor employing rehearses, Humphreys refers to the ATS, considering it a damaging technology and regretting the way it neutralizes the push to locate the best taught and most gifted alumni. Humphreys isn't the only one in censuring the utilization of ATSs: these simple frameworks turn the mind boggling procedure of selecting into a round of shallow trendy expressions, and many in the recruiting business concur with Humphreys. Liz Ryan of the Human Workplace effectively expressed the idea when she composed: Candidate following frameworks don't ask about what you realized at work, what you left afterward, or what you see as your most noteworthy achievement. Our choice instrument is stuck in 1940, intrigued distinctly with regards to the undertakings and obligations and devices you utilized, as if those things outside of any relevant connection to the issue at hand could have any noteworthiness to your next manager whatsoever. Beside ATSs that channel applicants dependent on meager standards, the recruiting scene has another issue: the supposed abilities hole. Previously, Ive contended that businesses sustain the very aptitudes hole they bemoan by fetishizing inactive applicants and coming up short to invest in preparing programs that would enable section to level representatives and late alumni learn necessary, job-explicit abilities. I remain by these affirmations: next to no has changed since the March in which I made that appraisal. Building Partnerships among Educators and Employers Once more: I dont need to invest an excess of energy refusing to accept responsibility for the issues at hand. Despite who is to blame, the fact still remains: late graduates face a depressing work circumstance, and we have to change that to benefit our country all in all. Sadly, organizations can be famously narrow minded, inclined to excuse any source of inspiration that doesn't serve their primary concern. So lets put the issue of un-and underemployment for ongoing graduates in business-accommodating terms: bosses can either pick to sit back and sit tight for the abilities hole to explain itself, or they can play a functioning job in unraveling it. To help improve the business viewpoint for late grads and tackle the abilities hole, in a way the AACU has begun the LEAP Employer-Educator Compact. This activity unites school and college presidents and business and not-for-profit pioneers to cooperate to give more chances to entry level positions and experiential realizing, which better get ready late graduates for the activity advertise. This is the means by which we comprehend both the abilities hole and the business emergency for youthful laborers: organizations among teachers and managers, where the two gatherings take dynamic jobs in developing the future workforce. As Humphreys says, Ground breaking business and charitable pioneers realize that their future achievement and the future accomplishment of our country relies upon whether our schools and colleges graduate generously taught experts who are set up to fuel advancement and successful critical thinking in quick paced worldwide situations. Bosses, enrollment specialists, HR professionals, and all the rest, I leave you with a question: would you like to join the forward-masterminds, or would you rather willfully stick to the (distressing) past?

A Day in the Life Of Lauren Shaber, Cisco Marketer and Blogger - Classy Career Girl

A Day in the Life Of Lauren Shaber, Cisco Marketer and Blogger Keep reading to be inspired by one of the REAL classy and ambitious ladies who are driving change, inspiring others  and making the world a better place. The more we know that other women are making the impossible possible, the more empowered we will be that we can do the same. We were ecstatic to see how excited you all were to read about our top 20 Classy Career Girls of 2015  so we wanted to dive even deeper into these working women making a difference. This interview features Lauren Shaber, a 24-year-old girl, born and raised in California. Lauren Shaber  is currently living in the Bay Area. She works full-time in partner marketing at Cisco and also manages a healthy living blog. When shes not working or blogging, you can find her at the farmers market, catching up on her favorite TV shows, or practicing her photography. Name: Lauren Shaber   Titles:  Partner Marketing, Cisco Website:  http://www.laurenliveshealthy.com/ What is the best advice anyone has ever given to you? My boss recently told me that it’s okay with being a beginner. I always push myself so hard and want to be an expert that sometimes I overdo it and forget to do some of the basic steps to get there. By stepping back and admitting to myself that I don’t always have to do it right from the get-go was huge wakeup call. It’s allowed me to focus more on asking questions and build the foundational knowledge I need to succeed, ultimately allowing me to do my work better. It was definitely a wake up call. Who inspires you? I’m really inspired by women who have turned their passions and created it into a career and who focus on supporting other women. For example, I look up to Lauren Conrad, who has created a bunch of businesses that are all geared toward bettering women, one of which connects artisans around the world with consumers. It’s so inspiring. She’s also shares her experiences in an authentic way and partners with companies that are true to her and her brand. That’s definitely how I’d like to be perceived business-wise. What’s your typical day like? I usually wake up around 5:30 or 6 and get in a long walk or workout. Then I ease into my morning by making an almond milk latte and a nice breakfast. Because I work from home, I don’t have a commute to deal with and savor the time before everyone else starts waking up. I’m on my computer around 7:30 or 8 responding to emails and starting the workday, since I work with a lot of people in Europe. I work until about 5 every day, then have dinner with my boyfriend and catch up on our favorite TV shows. I usually finish the day with some yoga. I work on my blog in the morning, at night or over lunch â€" whenever I can find some spare time! How do you balance work with your everyday life? Honestly, this is the hardest thing for me that I’m constantly working on. I manage my blog outside of a full-time job, so I often feel like I have two jobs. I make sure to focus on surrounding myself with people who support what I’m doing. My boyfriend and I have date nights scheduled each week together and try to eat dinner together every night. I also try to do something every day that makes me happy, whether that’s taking a hot bath, reading a few chapters in a book, or making a nice meal. When I’m happier, I actually tend to perform better at work, so I make it a point to focus on bettering myself every day. What is your all-time favorite book? Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom What is your favorite vacation spot? Half Moon Bay, CA What is your favorite restaurant/food? Sushi What was your first job? Working in a candle store What is your favorite TV show? Grey’s Anatomy What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend? Walking to the farmers market with my boyfriend, stopping into our favorite local coffee shop on the way. The Top 5 Countries Where it Pays to Be a Teacher

The Top 5 Countries Where it Pays to Be a Teacher Everyone who has had the privilege of going through the school system has met a teacher that has made an impact on their lives. When we’re kids, and even when we’re adults, it’s hard to think about our teachers in terms of all the hefty workload they have inside and outside the classroom. Teachers famously spend hours outside of the classroom grading papers, speaking to parents, and creating engaging lesson plans. Even though they clock in these extra hours, many countries pay their teachers less than they deserve. We recently came across research outlining the at the average salaries from various professionals from countries across the world. In light of these findings, we thought it would be valuable to find the top five countries with the highest teacher salary. So, where does it really pay to be a teacher? See the countries below: Switzerland Topping the charts is Switzerland with an impressive $62,080 annual teacher salary. If we think about this number in relation to the cost of living and the minimum wage that is present, that would place this salary in a very livable range. Switzerland has one of the highest standards of living in the world, so if you’re a teacher and are looking to move, we’d recommend you move here. Israel Have you ever thought of going to Israel to teach? If not, we’d recommend reconsidering. Teachers can make an average of $56,970 a year, which is well above the cost of living for the country. Israel is a beautiful country with a rich history, a wonderful culture, and, oddly enough, one of the highests counts of sushi restaurants per capita. What’s not to love? Norway Norway is often considered one of the happiest places to live in the world, but is that true for its educators? Teachers make an average of $48,152 per year. So when you look at the average household income of Norway, $35,739, we’d say that educators are pretty happy there too. Australia In the land of kangaroos and Vegemite, how do teachers do in terms of salary? In Australia, teachers earn an average of $47,967 per year. Compared to the national cost of living, you can make a decent life for yourself in the land down under. Sunny beaches, awesome wildlife, AND a great salary? Sign us up! Canada Representing the North American continent is our neighbor to the north, Canada. The average salary for their teachers is $46,603, which, when compared to the cost of living, is a respectable salary in either a single or multi-income household. And with this salary, you can afford to partake in some of the best parts of Canadian culture like hockey games, smoked meat sandwiches, and, of course, confections covered in maple syrup. Teachers have a heavy hand in building the next generation of people who are going to change the world. No matter what the vocation, politician, doctor, and writer, etc., everyone’s lives have been touched by a teacher. And, thankfully, the countries above reflect the vital role they play. We loved finding the countries with the highest salaries for teachers. Did any of this results surprise you? Let us know down in the comments!

How to Write an Objective Summary For a Resume

How to Write an Objective Summary For a ResumeWriting an objective summary for a resume is essential in writing your resume. This summary must reflect the information contained in your work history, education, and accomplishments. The document you create must be compelling and express what your employer wants to know about you. It is important to keep these steps in mind when you are creating an objective.Write your resume on paper. Paper gives the ability to write clearly and directly without distractions of symbols or pictures. This can be helpful because the computer is only going to give you one choice of fonts to use. Your writing must be direct and understandable in order to make a good impression.Use a format. Choose a format that will allow you to write in the conversational tone. This is important because most employers want to speak with someone who they can relate to. In addition, when you are speaking directly, you are more likely to say things correctly. Using a clear an d concise structure allows you to be more effective in communicating.Always use short and simple sentences in your writing. This gives the reader a simple experience and allows them to take it all in with ease. As you write, think about what you are trying to say and do not go too far into describing your accomplishments. You want to get your point across without making it sound like you are bragging.Organize your writing. If you are writing the document on paper, you should use a specific table and alphabetical order. Make sure you follow the same style throughout the document. Use the same capitalization and punctuation throughout.Create a list of your work history. Whether it is a yearbook, newsletter, or any other form of document, your history will help to demonstrate how you have progressed as a person over time. Again, using a specific structure is important in writing this document.Highlight your education. You should include your education in your resume by writing in the f irst paragraph of your most recent degrees. In addition, you should highlight the dates of your attendance in that institution. Be sure to list the full name of the school, its location, and the course you are attending.Describe your work history. Whether it is a resume for a job interview or a job you already have, include your work history. List every job you have held. You can write about the position, the location, the title, and the job duties.

Proficient Resume Writing Techniques For Teaching Spanish

Proficient Resume Writing Techniques For Teaching SpanishWhen you apply for a teaching position in a high school or college, you will find yourself reviewing resume writing to ensure that you have included your best teaching qualities. This is not an easy task, but it is possible. A good teacher should be able to demonstrate a combination of teaching skills such as: knowledge of the subject matter, ability to instruct students, ability to build relationships with students, and the ability to motivate students. All of these skills will be relevant to the teaching job that you are applying for.If you wish to apply for a new teaching job, there are some tips that you can follow that will make your application easier to review. In most cases, this is all that you need to make sure that you are considered for the position. In order to have a chance at being considered, it is important that you apply the following practice tips:*English is not the only language taught in Spanish courses. E ven so, Spanish is often used as a background language. As a result, it is a good idea to keep in mind what your strengths are in Spanish. These might include command of vocabulary, the ability to find connections between related words, the ability to add significant information when explaining a concept or process, or the ability to explain complex concepts using simple language. Again, if your strengths in Spanish are applicable to the teaching profession, then you will be better able to impress the hiring committee.*Target your resume writing skills. You will be asked to demonstrate specific teaching skills as a means of demonstrating your worth as a teacher.*Once you begin teaching, you must continue to do so as a way of proving to the committee that you are committed to the job. You should plan to keep up your current assignments for at least a few months. After a while, they will notice that you are making progress in your classes and they will likely be more willing to give y ou a second try.*When you submit resumes to job postings, be sure to be completely honest about your teaching experience. Do not leave anything out that might negatively affect your chances of being hired. Also, do not use false information about your experience, including education certifications, such as licensure, as these are usually viewed as a plus.*Keep in mind that, for many teachers, it takes a year or two to become really comfortable with the subject matter. During this time, you may be required to conduct research. The purpose of this is to establish yourself as a great teacher and to teach yourself how to be an effective researcher.Your resume is the first contact that prospective employers have with you, so make sure that you make the most of it. You may even want to use your resume writing skills to offer guidance to other teachers in your area who are looking for a teaching job.

Creative Writing Resume Objectives For Teacher

Creative Writing Resume Objectives For TeacherEducators are a special breed when it comes to resumes, as their fields of interest are varied. It is true that teaching is one of the most sought after professions in our society. Although there are many reasons why people seek a career in teaching, most schools and colleges are forced to put teacher candidates into positions where they have to interact with kids every day. Some of the more specialized teachers, whose passion for their subject also carries over to their teaching and other work that they do, can take advantage of creative writing resume objectives for teacher. Many people who use this method of writing a resume also fail to realize that they do not need to hire an 'outside' professional to do this. In fact, most teachers already have some experience working in a classroom setting and are already familiar with the types of topics they will cover on their resumes. Teachers who have spent time and energy on their research and writing can provide great teaching objectives for teacher. They also include the fact that they have sought out appropriate training and certification in order to further their knowledge. These teachers are usually more dedicated to their classes than other teachers who will make use of creativity resume objectives for teacher. The truth is that writing objectives for teacher is a relatively simple process. The teacher's subject of interest must be listed, along with the name of the institution that he or she attended. This includes the state that the school was located in, if any. If the teacher has worked for a school or college within the United States, he or she should list the institution's address, city, state, zip code, and country, as well as other vital information. Most teachers who employ creative writing resume objectives for teacher list their profession as an educator. Because of this, they will be able to include such things as 'teacher'educator' on their resume and at least try to state that they have completed any required continuing education and certification programs. Other subjects for teachers on a resume such as 'parenting'family issues' are also acceptable. Many states have mandated these types of subjects as part of the curriculum. The creative writing in resumes can be enhanced by including such things as a poem or rhyme. Teachers who want to demonstrate their creativity can also use other creative writing tools such as a novel or screenplays. The essential elements to the resume objective are the teacher's name, the institution, his or her job description, as well as a short paragraph about his or her educational background.Teachers who are aiming for a better position, but are in the market for a job, can look for a higher position or a position with a different employer. Some education recruiters are prepared to overlook a resume objective for teacher because they believe that it is already a very good idea. Others have their own cri teria and want their candidates to show what they have to offer, which is why they are willing to overlook something that is simple and direct. You might just be surprised at the number of teachers who are qualified and skilled, but unable to land the teaching position they really want.Creative writing resumes can be customized to fit the resume objectives for teacher that are written for each potential employer. This will help you stand out from the crowd and get noticed by the recruiters that are looking for candidates. In the end, you will most likely get hired!

Top 15 Resume Buzzwords Hiring Managers Hate to See - ZipJob

Top 15 Resume Buzzwords Hiring Managers Hate to See Spread the loveSo, you’ve spent weeks refining your resume to make sure that it dazzles any hiring manager who sees it. You’ve polished every tidbit of information, and filled it with business words and phrases that should help to demonstrate that you’re the perfect job candidate. If you’re loading up your resume with tired, worn-out resume buzzwords, however, your work may be in vain. To avoid that pitfall, here are 15 cliched resume buzzwords that hiring managers are tired of seeing.#1: CreativeThis is probably one of the biggest turn-offs that hiring managers see. You put together a resume that looks like a million others, and then describe yourself as “creative.” That’s probably not going to escape any hiring manager’s notice. Besides, anyone can claim to be creative. You need to demonstrate your creativity by describing times when you created solutions that solved real-world problems.#2: Detail-OrientedAgain, any hiring manager worth his salt is going to notice t hat your claimed attention to detail didn’t help you avoid this cliche. Rather than simply describing yourself as detail-oriented, you should highlight examples that show that you have this trait.#3: Team PlayerEvery company wants to hire people who excel at being part of a team. Most employees know this by now, which is probably why so many applicants insist on including some variation of “plays well with others” on their resumes. Hiring managers expect applicants to make this claim, so you’d be better served by simply noting different instances in which you displayed teamwork.#4: Hard-WorkingThis one is a real pet peeve for many hiring personnel: “hard-working.” It’s more than a cliche; it’s an outright waste of words. Your commitment to working hard will be demonstrated by your actual work history. If it’s true, you won’t need to say it. Your accomplishments will speak for themselves.#5: MotivatedMotivation is another trait that needs to be demonstrated with r eal action. If you’re truly motivated, it will shine through in your interactions with the hiring manager and the company. It will be self-evident in the accomplishments that you list in your resume. Don’t claim it; be it.#6: Results-DrivenWe’ve talked to hiring managers whose eyes roll back into their head at the mere mention of the phrase “results-driven.” Yes, they assume that employees are results-driven, since everyone does his or her job with a certain result in mind. Retire this phrase, please.#7: Great CommunicatorHere’s a tip: if you need to tell someone that you’re a great communicator, then you probably aren’t. Great communication speaks for itself, whether in written or verbal form. Take the opportunity to document instances where your communication skills benefited prior employers.#8: ExpertThink about this one. Are you really an expert? Being competent in your job and confident in your skill set doesn’t necessarily make you an expert. After all, if yo u were, then chances are that the hiring manager or someone in his company would have already heard of you â€" right?#9: Think Outside-the-BoxThis is another one of those meaningless cliches that we can’t seem to get rid of. Someone who thinks “outside the box” would be creative enough to come up with a better way to describe their unique thought process.#10: InnovativeYes, everyone wants to be innovative. Companies want innovative, and they want it badly. They also know that nearly every applicant claims to be innovative â€" but few really are. If you’ve been innovative in the past, describe those innovations rather than simply laying claim to that talent.#11: Responsible ForIf you have a tendency to write, “Responsible for” when describing your core responsibilities at previous jobs, just stop. That’s a vague way to describe what you did. Instead, say “supervised” or “managed” â€" or any number of dozens of other descriptive power verbs â€" to describe what y ou did in greater detail.#12:  Best in ClassBusinesses like to toss this claim around, and some job applicants have taken to using it in recent years. Are you truly best in class, though? If pressed, could you even explain exactly what that means? Skip it altogether and just focus on your real skills and achievements.#13: Strategic ThinkerIf you are a strategic thinker, then you probably don’t need to declare yourself as such. Just focus on filling your resume with examples of how your strategic insight benefited former employers. Use numbers to quantify those benefits, if you can.14: LeaderThe “L” word gets tossed around a lot too â€" and with good reason. Companies want to hire people with leadership potential. The problem is that they know that you know that. As a result, they’re not likely to just take your word for it when you claim that you’re a leader. They want to see evidence of that claim.#15: Focused on SynergyWhether you claim to be focused on synergy, dedicat ed to synergy, or an expert at achieving synergy, our advice is simple: just don’t. In fact, don’t even use the word “synergy” anywhere in your resume. Don’t mention it in your interview. Don’t think about it on the way home from the doctor’s office. It’s tired. Let’s put it to bed once and for all. What should you replace these resume buzzwords with?We wrote a great post on the best words to use on a resume here. There are other resume buzzwords that you should avoid, of course. Dont worry, Mourinho... Enhancv will help you find another club!

Dont worry, Mourinho... Enhancv will help you find another club677Jose Mourinho is either a rolle you adore or someone you truly despise. Theres no middle ground. He has hundreds of achievements behind his back, but also some questionable moments in his career.Even if you are not a Chelsea fan, you cant deny that he is one of the brightest and most entertaining people weve seen in professional football. Still, many were overjoyed seeing Jose go as he and Chelsea FC parted ways this Thursday, probably because they only see the arrogant and selfish part of him.For others, though, it is a huge loss Mourinho has built a dynasty in every club he has been a part of, and has always followed his principles. Most importantly he has always made us listen when he spoke, regardless whether you liked him or not.The real reason we created his CV is to remind the world who Jose Mourinho is. Not only his numerous cups, guinness records or coaching awards, but also his style, principles and the reas on why he was sometimes that arrogant.Even though, we are not Chelseas fans, nor do we always share his point of view, we are quite sure this guy deserves some respect for the things hes done and the guts he had to express his opinion. Hope you enjoy it ?Download Jose Mourinho CVRespectMou and thanks for entertaining us before, during and after your games. Were looking forward to seeing which team youll lead next.
